Reimagining the Kinkeeper
You don’t have to scroll far through the Root & Seed archives to see that our mission has always been about bridging gaps between generations, preserving, and bringing families closer together. But as we’ve connected with more changemakers and everyday storytellers, we began to think even bigger about what it means to be a “kinkeeper,” and how we could make space for more kinds of storytelling right within the Root & Seed app!
Because stories don’t just thrive within the branches of family trees. They can also bloom within home care settings, across the street where you live, or at community gatherings. These connections between neighbours, caregivers, friends, and chosen family can be just as meaningful.
That’s why we’re so thrilled to introduce two NEW categories of thoughtfully designed, expert-vetted prompts: Caregiver and Community
These new categories join our existing Family prompt collection, expanding the ways you can spark conversations and uncover stories, wherever you find them.
Caregiver
When caregivers and elders share space, so much more is possible than just following daily routines. In fact, studies show that when older adults are encouraged to reflect on their lives and memories, it improves mental well-being and strengthens social bonds. Our new Caregiver prompts help personal support workers (PSWs) and homecare professionals create space for these impactful conversations, offering families a beautiful new way to understand and connect with their loved ones.
Community
We don’t live in a bubble! For many, community is the heart of culture, wisdom, and belonging. Some of the most inspiring stories we’ve heard at Root & Seed come from younger generations rediscovering their heritage through the guidance of community elders. Our new Community prompts are designed to capture those powerful, cross-generational exchanges and preserve collective stories and knowledge that might otherwise be lost.
